Weekly COVID-19 Cases Average Over 42 Per Day in Erie County
Positive and active case numbers continue to rapidly climb
Wednesday, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper reported 33 new positive cases of COVID-19. This brings our cumulative total to 2,385 positive cases. There have been 35,274 negative tests in total.
According to the county, there have been 298 new positive cases in the past week. 123 more cases were reported compared to last week, a 70% increase of the weekly total, with an average of 42 cases (42.14) being reported each day.
On Friday, Oct. 30, the largest single-day total of new cases was reported, with 53. On Tuesday, the second-largest single-day total was set at 50.
So far, there have been 1,917 recovered cases, with eight announced today and 74 this week, for a total of 414 current active cases in Erie County, more than doubling the active cases from last week.
There have been 54 total Erie County deaths reported by the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS), with no additional deaths reported this week.
In the last month, there have been 729 new positive cases reported since Monday, Oct. 5. There have also been 442 recoveries and two deaths in that span of time.
Erie County's cumulative positive case total has more than doubled in 10 weeks.

State, Local, and National Statistics
Today, Pennsylvania saw 2,795 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 217,666. So far, there have been 8,890 deaths statewide. 2,254,523 patients have tested negative to date. In the last week, Pennsylvania saw 19,220 new positive cases, 119,742 negative tests, and 167 deaths.
According to the CDC, the US has a total of 9,357,245 total cases, with 604,451 new cases in the last seven days and 88,427 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the US is 231,988, with 6,003 reported in the last week and 1,095 in the last 24 hours.
As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 650 positive cases (up 127 this week), with four deaths (up one from last week). McKean County has 175 positive cases (up 39) and two deaths. Venango County has 359 positive cases (up 99) and one death. Warren County has 80 total positive cases (up 14), and one death.
Ashtabula County's cumulative total is 790 positive cases (up 156 this week) and 48 deaths (no change). Chautauqua County has a cumulative total of 1,130 positive cases (up 226) and 15 deaths (up two from last week).
