This American Song- Golden Circles Music Video

Making a music video while under quarantine instead of having a nervous breakdown

We have all had to make changes in our lives over the last few weeks. One of the things that I miss the most is playing music with my friends. It's a group activity that I am sure many musicians are craving right now. So I decided to occupy my time by shooting a music video for the song "Golden Circles," by my band This American Song. We have a new album that's finished recording, that we will now have to roll out digitally before we get any physical copies made.

Making the video, I was forced to use limited resources and practice social distancing, with help from my fiance Emily Miller. We shot video clips on an iPhone 7 and collected them on our daily walks and shot the rest in our apartment. The goal was to make a video that was as fun to watch, as it was to make. I created a loose narrative for the video by drawing inspiration from commercials that seem to offer more from their products, then they can actually deliver. The whole process of making this silly parody laden video was a lot of fun. It was a wonderful way to collaborate with Emily and a great way to keep the band fresh, while we have had to take a break from playing music together.
