The 10th Annual Ales for Sails
Pay additional 'sipping and handling' for maritime education
FRIDAY, FEB. 3
Yearning for a little wind behind your sails amidst the winter doldrums?
Port yourself into a livelier situation at the Bayfront Maritime Center's 10th Annual Ales for Sails — between beer samples from 10 Lake Erie Ale Trail breweries, hors d'oeuvres from Cali's West Catering, music and photo booths from Millennium Sound, and the utterly unique venue, there's little chance you'll be starbored.
Attendees will receive a commemorative glass that may be refilled as many times as it needs to be throughout the event's three-hour duration, with locally crafted drafts from the following participants:
- Arundel Cellars and Brewing
- Black Monk Brewery
- The Brewerie at Union Station
- Erie Ale Works
- Erie Brewing Company
- Five & 20 Spirits and Brewing
- John Russell Brewing
- Lavery Brewing Company
- Nostrovia Brewing
- Twisted Elk Brewery
Before sailing off into the sunset (or your Uber ride), make sure to 1) vote for your favorite and 2) put your name in for a basket raffle brimming with local goodies. The winners will be announced half an hour before the event concludes.
As always, proceeds from Ales for Sails help benefit the Bayfront Maritime Center's STEM-oriented educational programming, which is aimed at giving local youth a deeper understanding and respect for Erie's greatest resource, as well as unparalleled hands-on experiences with maritime engineering and technology, exemplified by a modified reproduction of the 1812 gunboat schooner Porcupine, the designated "Schoolship for Presque Isle Bay."
If there's any reason to load down the ole' cargo hold, it's to make young dreams more buoyant.
