Erie residents don't need to travel far for authentic Asian cuisine.
The Erie Asian Pacific American Association will present its second annual Taste of Asia dinner Friday, April 27, bringing ethnic delicacies from near and far to the Erie Art Museum for an evening. The event features food from six countries: Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Philippines and Turkey. Some are available locally, while others are being brought in for the occasion.
"It's like six meals in one," Erie APAA marketing and social media manager Archana Kumar said.
The menu includes items like sandesh from Bangladesh (a dessert made from milk and sugar), pickled papaya from the Philippines, and dosa from India (pancakes made from a fermented batter of rice and black gram).
This will be the second time the Erie APAA holds Taste of Asia. The first attracted so much attention it sold out its limited 100 seats, so the upcoming event was expanded to allow 200 people to attend.
The nonprofit plans to hold the event every other year, opposite its Asian Festival. — Tracy Geibel
