Small Uptick in COVID-19 Cases Nationwide and Locally
PA Health Dept. reports three county deaths, 88 new cases
The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 752 with three reported this week. The Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 796 deaths, with one occurring this week.
The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 56,958, according to the PA Department of Health.
In the last week, there have been 88 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, down from last week's 68 cases reported, with 78 the week prior, and 113 the week before that.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of nearly 13 cases per day (up three per day from last week's data).
This total, of course, does not include individuals who have tested positive via at-home testing kits, and only reflects the numbers of officially reported cases.
There are currently 22 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Erie County, with three patients requiring the use of a ventilator.
As of now, there are 155,723 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 689 from last week), with 24,603 having received their first dose (down 251), and 75,382 who have received a booster shot (up 2,443).
All areas regularly reported on – from a county, state, and national level – experienced a small increase in COVID-19 cases, aside from Warren County. Since January, there has been an overall downward trend in both new COVID-19 cases and reported deaths.

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 80,031,627 cases. There have been 32,623 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 178,871 cases in the last 7 days.
The total number of deaths in the US is 979,610, with 412 in the last 24 hours, and 8,398 in the last week, with 5,017 last week.
As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 19,758 positive cases (up 18 since last week), with 314 deaths (no change this week).
McKean County has 8,185 total positive cases (up 20) and 138 deaths (no change).
Venango County has 11,231 total positive cases (up six) and 2376 deaths (up one this week).
Warren County has 7,321 total positive cases (up eight), and 210 deaths (up two this week).
All areas regularly reported on – from a county, state, and national level – experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases, aside from Warren County. While for the last four weeks, there has been a downward trend overall.
