Slight Upward Trend in COVID-19 Cases Continues
Erie County Health Dept. reports no deaths this week
The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 755 with three reported this week. The Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 796 deaths, with none occurring this week.
The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 57,150, according to the PA Department of Health.
In the last week, there have been 104 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, down from last week's 88 cases reported, with 68 the week prior, and 78 the week before that.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of nearly 15 cases per day (up two per day from last week's data).
This total, of course, does not include individuals who have tested positive via at-home testing kits, and only reflects the numbers of officially reported cases.
There are currently 20 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Erie County, with no patients currently requiring the use of a ventilator.
As of now, there are 156,908 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 1,185 from last week), with 24,154 having received their first dose (down 449), and 78,257 who have received a booster shot (up 2,875).
The slight uptick experienced last week appears to be continuing. Compared to the massive case counts reported in January, however, totals remain relatively low.

Pennsylvania now has 2,792,250 cases of COVID-19, for a weekly increase of 6,904.
So far, there have been 44,441 deaths statewide, with 71 occurring this week, and 110 last week.
According to the CDC, the US has a total of 80,260,092 cases. There have been 36,340 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 213,474 cases in the last 7 days.
The total number of deaths in the US is 979,610, with 386 in the last 24 hours, and 3,627 in the last week, with 8,398 last week.
As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 19,780 positive cases (up 22 since last week), with 315 deaths (up one this week).
McKean County has 8,197 total positive cases (up 12) and 138 deaths (no change).
Venango County has 11,249 total positive cases (up 18) and 238 deaths (up one this week).
Warren County has 7,339 total positive cases (up 18), and 210 deaths (no change this week).
All areas regularly reported on – from a county, state, and national level – experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases, aside from McKean County. While for the last five weeks, there has been a downward trend overall.
