New COVID-19 Cases Hit All-time High in Erie County
Both case and death numbers surge prior to Thanksgiving holiday
In the last week, there have been 1,682 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 1,450 new cases reported the previous week, with 1,238 the week prior, and 911 the week before that.
The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 34,725. The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 539 (up 20 from last week), while the Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 582 deaths (up 25 from last week).
Thursday, Nov. 18 saw the highest single-day total in Erie County, with 325 new cases reported. The following day, 314 new cases were reported, marking the second-highest single-day total since the pandemic began.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of more than 240 cases per day (a per-day increase of more than 33 over last week).
As of now, there are 142,180 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated, with 19,853 having received their first dose, and 39,648 who have received a booster shot.
