Goodell Summer Music Series a Perennial Favorite
Live music at Goodell Gardens
Friday, Jun. 7
Live music will be in full bloom throughout Goodell Gardens now and for weeks to come as the historic homestead's perennial Summer Music Series returns to the lush, lovely old landscape just south of Edinboro.
The 2019 iteration is laid-back, family-friendly, and twice-monthly (rain-or-shine) .
This year's series kicks off Friday, June 7 with a performance by local mainstays the Tiger Maple String Band, and continues every couple of weeks from there with slated sets by other area favorites: Seann Clark & Friends on June 21; TK Blues Co. on July 12; Generic New Grass on July 26; This American Song on Aug. 9; and Salmon Frank on Aug. 23.
Goodell is hosting a local food truck during each event as well, with SorcErie, the Chameleon, and Give A Crepe/La CrepErie filling this year's spots. And, on June 21 — a special, extended Summer Solstice celebration at Goodell — Riverside Brewing and Edinboro's award-winning Cart/Horse Distilling will also be hanging out for the festivities.
For the Solstice, Goodell will be "taking advantage of the longest day of the year," said Goodell Executive Director Amber Wellington, adding that special date will offer free admission as well as some special fundraising-centered things to do like guided tours of the historic gardens, special donation collections, and the opening of an art show.
"We're so excited to bring back this well-loved concert series, and are even more excited to partner with the Erie Federal Credit Union, who signed on as the main sponsor of the series this year," said Wellington. "This is the first year we've had a major sponsor of the Summer Music Series, and we're so thankful for [their] support."
Wellington added grant funding from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is being used to once again hire professional sound engineering for this year's series. — Ryan Smith
