Gallery Night offers a #Vibranterie Art Scene
Hashtag your way across the arts.
Friday, May 20
You'll have your choice of venues for the May 20 Gallery Night with 14 locations offering a stimulating array of art. To bring this far-flung affair together, Erie Arts & Culture is promoting a live social media event, asking people to tweet or post to Facebook about their experiences at the galleries with the hashtag #vibranterie. Every tweet, post, or check-in using the hashtag is worth one entry in a drawing at the end of the evening for a Downtown Erie Sampler Pass and other prizes. The pass gives the holder discounts on downtown activities and nightspots.
It looks like your strategy should be a trip to the West Eighth Street corridor, where you can pick up photography by Katie Wnukoski and live music by Jess Royer at Mod Apothecary; and visit Kada Gallery, Lighthouse Jewelers, Artlore Studio, Oregon Antiques, and Something Wonderful.
A downtown loop offers the Bayfront Gallery, plus plenty of options at the Erie Art Museum, featuring the 93rd Annual Spring Show (you've seen it, right?), installation art by Linda Huey, Nocturnal Emissions by Alison Stinely (including an artist talk at 7:30 p.m.), and working art demonstrations.
Something fresh is at PACA, which is hosting the works of the Advanced Photo Class of Fairview High School students including traditional photography and multimedia videos. At the Renaissance Centre, you can explore 88 years of the building's history.
Radius CoWork is participating within the Centre's walls, as is D'Hopkins Denniston Gallery across the street. More fun is available at Glass Growers Gallery and Ralph Miller Jewelers.
Whew! Warm up those thumbs, kids. And hashtag your way to a vibrant night.
