Erie County's New COVID-19 Dip Following Last Week High

In the last week, there have been 1,206 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 1,682 new cases reported the previous week, with 1,450 the week prior, and 1,238 the week before that. 

The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 35,940. The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 547 (up eight from last week), while the Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 593 deaths (up 11 from last week).

Last Thursday, Nov. 18 saw the highest single-day total in Erie County, with 325 new cases reported. The following day, 314 new cases were reported, marking the second-highest single-day total since the pandemic began. Following that apparent peak, cases have decreased significantly, by more than 30%. 

Over the last seven days, there has been an average of more than 172 cases per day (a per-day increase of more than 68 over last week).

As of now, there are 143,095 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated, with 20,735 having received their first dose, and 42,860 who have received a booster shot.

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 48,497,243 total cases. There have been 119,604 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 579,923 cases in the last 7 days.

The total number of deaths in the US is 780,131, with 1,610 in the last 24 hours. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 13,354 positive cases (up 395 since last week), with 218 deaths (up one from last week). 

McKean County has 5,873 total positive cases (up 127) and 106 deaths (up four). 

Venango County has 8,020 total positive cases (up 248) and 170 deaths (up eight). 

Warren County has 5,129 total positive cases (up 168), and 157 deaths (up eight).
