Erie County Update, June 10, 2020
Two additional deaths and 10 new positive cases reported
Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper reported 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 today at her weekly video conference. This brings our cumulative total to 408 positive cases, with 6,791 negatives, with 144 new negative tests yesterday. So far, there have been 243 recovered cases, for a total of 157 current active cases.
Currently, the state is reporting the same cumulative number, with 341 confirmed and 67 probable cases.
There were also two recent deaths of Erie County residents due to COVID-19, bringing our total to eight deaths. No further information was available at the time of Dahlkemper's broadcast.
Erie County's cumulative positive case total has more than doubled since May 22. By our math, there have been 182 new cases reported over the last 14 days, for a ratio of about 66 cases per 100,000 people in the last 14 days.

Dahlkemper was quick to address the decision of some area business owners to open while still in the Yellow phase. "We understand that the decision to open was a difficult one, but please understand the risks to your business, and how that can affect your licensure, and your insurance," Dahlkemper cautioned. "The county does not endorse any business going against the state's order in the Yellow phase," she stated, advising businesses to talk to their legal counsel prior to opening.
Outside of Erie County's statistics, Pennsylvania, saw 410 additional positive cases reported today (189 more than yesterday), for a total of 76,849 total cases. So far, there have been 6,062 deaths statewide, with 109 occurring since yesterday. 467,329 patients have tested negative to date, with 15,942 tests cataloged since the previous day.
Erie County's negative tests account for 1.5% of Pennsylvania's, while its population accounts for 2.15%.
Erie County's new cases have accounted for 2.4% of Pennsylvania's – for a more than 5.5% drop from yesterday.
Erie County's positive cases account for 0.53% of the state's cumulative cases.
There were minor changes in some of our nearby counties. Crawford County has 31 positive cases (up one), with still no deaths being reported. McKean County still has 13 cases and one death. Venango County has 16 positive cases (up one) and no deaths. Warren County holds at five cases and no deaths.
Ashtabula County's cumulative total is 375 positive cases (up one), with 65 hospitalized, and 38 deaths. Chautauqua County has a cumulative total of 104 positive cases (up one) and six deaths.
