Erie County Sees Over 100 New COVID-19 Cases In a Single Day
528 new cases were reported this week, with five deaths
In the last week, there have been 528 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 425 new cases reported the previous week, and 370 the week prior.
Five additional deaths were reported this week by the PA Dept. of Health, bringing the total to 434. According to the Erie County Department of Health, there have been 493 deaths, with no new deaths reported at this time. A similar numerical discrepancy has been standard for the majority of the pandemic.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of more than 75 cases per day.
Erie County – along with the vast majority of US counties, including the entirety of Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio – is classified as having a high rate of transmission. This distinction marks a rate of 100 positive cases per 100,000 people or higher. The CDC recommends all people wear masks indoors in areas with a substantial or high transmission rate.
Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 23,246 total cases.
