Erie County Sees 373 New Cases of COVID-19 and Two Deaths This Week

On Wednesday, April 21, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 53 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with two additional deaths. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 19,683 total cases and 457 total deaths.

In the past week, there have been 373 new cases and two listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there were more than 53 new cases per day last week. 

Currently, there are 23 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Erie County, with two requiring ventilators.  

There have been 68,175 negative tests, with 984 this week and 741 last week. 

According to the PA Department of Health, Erie County's positivity rate was 7.5% between April 9 and April 15.

According to the PA Department of Health, there are 69,230 fully vaccinated residents in Erie County, with 27,207 partially vaccinated.

Today, Pennsylvania saw 4,602 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,087,792 cumulative cases.

So far, there have been 25,827 deaths statewide, with 305 deaths this week (and 237 reported last week).

In the last week, Pennsylvania saw 30,678 new positive cases (33,494 last week and 29,441 the week prior). 

So far, 6,600,130 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 809,840 occurring this week.  

In the US, 215,951,909 vaccines have been administered, with more than 21.16 million this week.

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 31,158,087 total cases, with 444,589 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 57,261 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 565,613, with 5,037 reported in the last week and 733 in the last 24 hours.

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 6,920 positive cases (up 106 this week), with 147 deaths (up one).

McKean County has 3,377 positive cases (up 75) and 67 deaths (up one). 

Venango County has 3,625 positive cases (up 53) and 91 deaths (up one). 3,625

Warren County has 2,387 total positive cases (up 65), and 101 deaths (up two).
