Erie County Sees 309 Weekly COVID-19 Cases

On Wednesday, May 5, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 38 new positive cases of COVID-19.

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 20,295 total cases and 462 total deaths.  

In the past week, there have been 309 new cases and one new death listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there were more than 44 new cases per day last week, for a decrease of one case per day compared to last week's data. 

Currently, there are 20 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Erie County, with three requiring ventilators.

So far, 70,010 patients have tested negative for COVID-19 in Erie County

According to the PA Department of Health, there are 90,779 fully vaccinated residents in Erie County, a 7,718 rise from last week, now accounting for over 33.7% of the population. There are currently 27,341 partially vaccinated residents.

State, Local, and National Statistics 

Today, Pennsylvania saw 2,597 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,164,216 cumulative cases.

So far, there have been 26,390 deaths statewide, with 261 deaths this week (and 302 reported last week).

So far, 8,840,842 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 614,549 in the last week.

According to the CDC, there have been 249,566,820 vaccines administered in the US, with more than 14.9 million this week. 

the US has a total of 32,313,016 total cases, with 333,226 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 43,626 new cases in the last 24 hours.  

The total number of deaths in the US is 575,491, with 5,070 reported in the last week and 750 in the last 24 hours. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 7,097 positive cases (up 67 this week), with 148 deaths (up one). 

McKean County has 3,555 positive cases (up 102) and 68 deaths (up one).  

Venango County has 3,739 positive cases (up 68) and 93 deaths (up one). 

Warren County has 2,552 total positive cases (up 64), and 101 deaths (no change).
