Erie County Sees 303 Weekly COVID-19 Cases, Four Deaths

On Wednesday, April 28, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 34 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with two additional deaths. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 19,683 total cases and 461 total deaths.

In the past week, there have been 303 new cases and four deaths listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there were more than 43 new cases per day last week, for a decrease of ten cases per day compared to last week's data. 

Currently, there are 18 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Erie County, with one requiring a ventilator.  

There have been 68,175 negative tests, with 732 this week and 984 last week. 

According to the PA Department of Health, there are 83,061 fully vaccinated residents (over 30% of the population) in Erie County, with 27,341 partially vaccinated.

Today, Pennsylvania saw 3,686 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,087,792 cumulative cases.

So far, there have been 26,129 deaths statewide, with 302 deaths this week (and 305 reported last week).

So far, 8,226,293 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA.

In the US, 234,639,414 vaccines have been administered, with more than 19 million this week.

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 31,158,087 total cases, with 377,538 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 50,061 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 570,421, with 4,808 reported in the last week and 733 in the last 24 hours. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 7,030 positive cases (up 110 this week), with 147 deaths (no change). 

McKean County has 3,453 positive cases (up 76) and 67 deaths (no change). 

Venango County has 3,739 positive cases (up 114) and 92 deaths (up one). 

Warren County has 2,488 total positive cases (up 101), and 101 deaths (no change).
