Erie County Sees 231 Weekly COVID-19 Cases, Five Deaths
Three Deaths and 24 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Today
On Wednesday, May 19, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 24 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with three additional deaths.
Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 20,790 total cases and 468 total deaths.
In the past week, there have been 231 new cases and five deaths listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there were 33 new cases per day last week, for a decrease of nearly five cases per day compared to last week's data. The previous week, however, saw only one death to this week's five.
Currently, there are eight patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Erie County, with no patients requiring ventilators.
According to the PA Department of Health, there are 100,726 fully vaccinated residents in Erie County, a 3,558 rise from last week, now accounting for over 37.9% of the population (for a 1.4% increase this week). There are currently 21,718 partially vaccinated residents.
