Erie County Requires Masking in County Facilities
Erie, PA — On August 9th 2021 the Erie County Administration announced that masking will be required regardless of vaccination status for all staff, employees, and visitors in Erie County facilities effective August 10th.
The masking decision was made as a result of increasing positive COVID-19 cases in Erie County and an increase in transmission of the virus which is 50 to 99.99 cases per 100,000 people. The administration continues to monitor cases and follows CDC protocol which recommends all people regardless of vaccination status should wear a mask over their mouth and nose in areas with substantial rates of transmission.
Furthermore, despite the open courthouse the public is encouraged to use electronic services offered via eriecountypa.gov. Civil or criminal court hearings will continue as scheduled, but the public is encouraged to participate and meet virtually when possible.
