Erie County Reports 3,363 New COVID-19 in a Single Week

In the last week, there have been 3,363 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, down from last week's all-time high of 4,162 new cases reported the previous week, compared to 2,970 the week prior, and 1,080 the week before that. This is the second-highest weekly total (Wednesday to Wednesday) of new cases since the pandemic began.

Over the last seven days, there has been an average of nearly 480 cases per day (a per-day decrease of more than 114 over last week). 

The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 51,351, according to both the state and county Department of Health. The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 654 with six occurring this week. The Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 695 deaths, with 10 occurring this week. 

As of now, there are 151,293 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 630 from last week), with 24,983 having received their first dose (up 541), and 70,786 who have received a booster shot (up 6,359).

State, Local, and National Statistics

Pennsylvania now has 2,506,132 cases of COVID-19, for a weekly increase of 157,856 (with 200,794  last week). 

So far, there have been 38,767 deaths statewide, with 664 occurring this week, and 992 last week. 

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 67,903,759 total cases. There have been 930,765 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 5,285,670 cases in the last 7 days.

The total number of deaths in the US is 853,230, with 2,461 in the last 24 hours, and 12,944 in the last week, and 12,407 last week. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 17,709 positive cases (up 986 since last week), with 270 deaths (up five from last week). 

McKean County has 7,117 total positive cases (up 402) and 121 deaths (no increase). 

Venango County has 10,046 total positive cases (up 908) and 211 deaths (up four). 

Warren County has 6,349 total positive cases (up 592), and 190 deaths (up four).
