Erie County Reports 1,966 New COVID-19 Cases in a Single Week

An average of 280 new cases per day were reported this week 

In the last week, there have been 1,966 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, down from last week's 3,363 new cases reported, with 4,162 the week prior, and 2,970 the week before that. 

Over the last seven days, there has been an average of over 280 cases per day (a per-day decrease of more than 200 compared to last week). 

The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 53,321, according to both the state and county Department of Health. The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 671 with 17 occurring this week. The Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 711 deaths, with 16 occurring this week. 

As of now, there are 152,140 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 847 from last week), with 25,069 having received their first dose (up 86), and 70,786 who have received a booster shot (up 1,406).

Pennsylvania now has 2,605,439 cases of COVID-19, for a weekly increase of 157,856 (with 157,856 last week).

So far, there have been 39,932 deaths statewide, with 1,165 occurring this week, and 664 last week. 

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 72,310,575 total cases. There have been 483,261 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 4,391,060 cases in the last 7 days.

The total number of deaths in the US is 870,195, with 3,182 in the last 24 hours, and 16,965 in the last week, and 12,944 last week. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 18,485 positive cases (up 776 since last week), with 275 deaths (up five from last week). 

McKean County has 7,512 total positive cases (up 395) and 123 deaths (up two). 

Venango County has 10,046 total positive cases (up 442) and 216 deaths (up five). 

Warren County has 6,349 total positive cases (up 355), and 193 deaths (up three).
