Discover Local Artists at Erie Art Museum's Gallery Night
Friday, Sept. 21
The Erie Art Museum will be hosting their latest Gallery Night at 18 different locations all across the city. Gallery Night presents the unique opportunity to discover local artists, explore their exhibitions, and to network/socialize over refreshments in the numerous venues the city has to offer. In addition to the magnitude of work on display from artists such as Tana Cadena-Vuignier, Tom Ferraro, and Deborah Sementelli, the event will feature live performances from Jennifer Dennehy's Lake Effect Hoop Troop, the Erie Dance Theater, and many more.
The night might begin at the Crime Victim Center, where the aforementioned visual artists' work will be featured, but with 17 more venues to choose from, Gallery Night could take you just about anywhere. And this edition's artists are just as diverse as the venues they're featured in. At Attic Rehab in the Performing Artists Collective Alliance building, you will find the social and political abstract paintings of Caesar Westbrook, accompanied by Northern Scoop Craft Ice Cream and demonstrations by the Erie ClaySpace Artists Association. At the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Pat Bywater's photo gallery of our city's weather conditions and architecture, titled Sense of Place — Erie Landmark, will be on display. Erie Apparel will host Scott Gladd's Procrastiwork: A Collection of Digital Illustrations Highlighting the Work Done while Avoiding Work. Live music and a meet-and-greet with the artist will also be held here — a recurring perk of Gallery Night.
Mixed media shows, painted dancers, and cultural pieces (such as Chinese Folk Art from the Shaanxi Region) are just a few of the experiences waiting to be discovered throughout our city during the Erie Art Museum's upcoming Gallery Night. — Aaron Mook
