COVID-19 Case Numbers Continue to Decrease
Nine deaths were reported by Erie County Dept. of Health this week
The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 778, with seven reported this week, while the Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 808 deaths, with nine reported this week.
The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 60,295, according to the PA Department of Health, where Erie County is now currently in the category of "high risk."
In the last week, there have been 601 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 779 cases reported last week, and 471 the week prior.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of nearly 86 cases per day (a decrease of 14 per day compared to last week).
These totals, however, are only a fraction of the cases compared to January of this year.
These numbers do not include individuals who have tested positive via at-home testing kits, and only reflects the numbers of officially reported cases.
There are currently 30 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Erie County, with four patients currently requiring the use of a ventilator.
As of now, there are 158,054 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 1,051 from last week), with 23,800 having received their first dose (down 264), and 79,298 who have received a booster shot (up 1,256).

So far, there have been 45,245 deaths statewide, with 98 recorded this week.
According to the CDC, the US has a total of 83,949,036 cases. There have been 45,433 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 659,822cases in the last 7 days.
The total number of deaths in the US is 1,002,070, with 32 in the last 24 hours, and 2,285 in the last week.
As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 20,281 positive cases (up 118 since last week), with 322 deaths (two reported this week).
McKean County has 8,489 total positive cases (up 73) and 143 deaths (two reported this week).
Venango County has 11,674 total positive cases (up 181) and 247 deaths (five reported this week).
Warren County has 7,783 total positive cases (up 176), and 212 deaths (no change this week).
