COVID-19 Cases Increase Through May
No local deaths reported by Erie County Dept. of Health
The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 762 with two reported this week. The Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 798 deaths, with none reported this week.
The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 58,997, according to the PA Department of Health.
In the last week, there have been 779 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 471 cases reported last week, and 220 the week prior.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of more than 111 cases per day (and increase of 44 per day compared to last week).
These totals, however, are only a fraction of the cases compared to January of this year.
These numbers do not include individuals who have tested positive via at-home testing kits, and only reflects the numbers of officially reported cases.
There are currently 38 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Erie County, with two patients currently requiring the use of a ventilator.
As of now, there are 158,054 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 526 from last week), with 23,800 having received their first dose (down 167), and 79,298 who have received a booster shot (up 576).

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 20,281 positive cases (up 201 since last week), with 320 deaths (no change this week).
McKean County has 8,371 total positive cases (up 73) and 141 deaths (no change this week).
Venango County has 11,493 total positive cases (up 166) and 242 deaths (up one this week).
Warren County has 7,607 total positive cases (up 101), and 212 deaths (no change this week).
