Bringing it Home
Erie Philharmonic preps for annual holiday concert
Saturday, Dec. 1
The Erie Philharmonic will kick off the holiday season with two performances of its annual "Come Home for the Holidays" concert at the Warner Theatre.
This year's concert will feature jazz-flavored arrangements courtesy of special guest soprano Joan Ellison, who has been described as an "expert in the vocal stylings of American icon Judy Garland." By way of Cleveland, to New York City, Ellison has cultivated a critically acclaimed revival — in spirit, staging, and song — of the legendary entertainer.
Also joining the Erie Philharmonic, led by conductor Daniel Meyer, is the Erie Philharmonic Chorus under the direction of Thomas Brooks, and Collegiate Academy Vocal Jazz under the direction of Susan Huster.
Doors open early for family activities at the 2:30 p.m. showing and tickets for the 8 p.m. showing are already almost sold out.
"Come Home for the Holidays" is the third of five concerts in the Erie Philharmonic's 2018-2019 pops series. The next pops series concert will feature music from The Wizard of Oz played in synchronization with the original film. This is set for Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10. — Tracy Geibel
