Bogues Brings Indie Emotion to Artlore Studio
Wednesday, Jan. 30
Emotionally captivating, Bogues is the work of Nashville, Tennessee musician A.J. Gruenewald. With a stripped-down sound, Gruenewald's songwriting comes immediately to the forefront, an intimate take on emo with indie rock sensibilities. The most recent show courtesy of Aorta Music & Management, area promoter Elvis Maryshine has brought together another powerful showcase of independent, original music. This month will see two shows held at Artlore Studios (the first being with Rarity, Heavy Hearts, et. al). The personal nature of the show will be beautifully at home at the local art gallery — which showcases a gorgeous collection of locally-made fine art and gifts. Sharing the bill with Bogues will be the Kitchener, Ontario pop punk quartet Romancer. The band recently released their EP titled Honeybee, a work that just sold out the collectible cassette pressing of its second and third tracks. Plaza, hailing from Buffalo, New York will bring their brand of high-energy math rock to the table. Be sure to catch local songwriter Teddy Rankin, with his soulful indie originals filled with heartfelt and earnest insights. Similarly, Gene Baritot will perform, featuring lovingly-crafted folk songs like "Fly Bird, Fly." The clothing company , Melancholy willl also have their wares available for sale at the show. Sure to be filled with moments of soft introspection and raucous vitality, this show promises to be something special. — Nick Warren
