Annual Fall Pumpkin Fest Comes to Conneaut Lake
Friday, Oct. 12
Autumn is in the air — the leaves are falling, and soon, pumpkins will be falling too at the 28th annual Fall Pumpkin Festival in Conneaut Lake Park.
The family-friendly event features a parade, cow milking contest, and its popular Giant Pumpkin Drop, where a more than 1,000-pound pumpkin is lifted by crane and released directly above a car.
The festival runs from Friday, Oct. 12 through Sunday, Oct. 14 with the pumpkin drops scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.
Amusement rides will be available throughout the festival, and live entertainment will start at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The lineup includes Elvis impersonator Jim Felix, Double Vision, The Belairs, Brett Allen Morgan and Coston Cross. A unicyclist, percussionist and Jerry Brown "The Monkey Man" will also perform on the midway.
The Fall Pumpkin Fest Parade will take place in downtown Conneaut Lake at 10 a.m. Saturday and the "Celebrity Cow Milking" contest will be held later at 3:30 p.m.
Approximately 150 regional crafters and artists will be present, along with about 20 food vendors.
The event is sponsored by the Conneaut Lake Area Business Association. — Tracy Geibel
