15 COVID-19 Deaths Reported Today, 1,320 New Cases This Week
An average of 188 new cases were reported each day this week

In the last week, there have been 1,320 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 1,551 new cases reported the previous week, with 1,206 the week prior, and 1,682 the week before that.
On Wednesday, Dec. 15, Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper delivered her final video press conference on COVID-19. The County Executive has been doing these from WQLN's studio with regularity since the pandemic began.
The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 38,818. The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 594, with 28 occurring this week. The Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 593 deaths, with 43 occurring this week.
On Wednesday, Dec. 15, there were 15 deaths reported on that day alone. The PA Department of Health recorded no prior total that high.
On Thursday, Dec. 9, 306 new cases were reported, making that the fourth-largest single-day total recorded since the pandemic began.
Over the last seven days, there has been an average of more than 188 cases per day (a per-day increase of nearly 33 over last week).
As of now, there are 146,794 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated, with 21,914 having received their first dose, and 52,898 who have received a booster shot.

Pennsylvania now has 1,857,879 cases of COVID-19, for a weekly increase of 58,126.
So far, there have been 34,990 deaths statewide, with 792 occurring this week.
According to the CDC, the US has a total of 50,052,008 total cases. There have been 201,786 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 825,235 cases in the last 7 days.
The total number of deaths in the US is 796,010, with 1,350 in the last 24 hours.
As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 14,369 positive cases (up 1,015 since last week), with 238 deaths (up eight from last week).
McKean County has 6,129 total positive cases (up 120) and 111 deaths (up four).
Venango County has 8,379 total positive cases (up 300) and 187 deaths (up nine).
Warren County has 5,422 total positive cases (up 137), and 168 deaths (up three).
